The Battery for an EV

 

An EV’s range and overall power depend mainly on its battery pack. EV battery packs can be complex systems that combine hundreds of cells to provide enough current for a car’s electric motor. Several companies have made significant progress in EV battery technology, including Nissan, which has been working on lithium-ion batteries for years. They launched the LEAF EV in 2010 and have continued to refine and improve their batteries with higher energy density and reliability. For example, the Nissan LEAF’s battery uses a particular type of material, Ni-Co-Mn, which allows it to be more compact than other batteries. In addition, the battery is made of a laminated structure, which enables greater lithium ion density.
